Three of them, A.D, E.Y and Erhan Alaca, have now been released while Nurullah Kara, Abbas Akhatun and Şadi Yaman have been brought to Diyarbakır D Type Closed Prison. They have allegedly been arrested for being in possession of explosive substances and “making propaganda for an organisation”.

Wan – In Wan, two children have lost their lives due to the cold weather, reports ANF.

Çiğdem Yılmaz lost her baby 8 days after giving birth to her. The doctor told her the baby died from poor nutrition and the harsh cold weather that has taken a great toll on Çiğdem’s family who have been living in a tent for the last two years. The family lost their house in an earthquake in Wan in 2011 that left around 60,00 people homeless.

Çiğdem Yılmaz’ father-in-law said that the Disaster and Emergency Directorate had not helped them despite writing to the Directorate multiple times in the last two years.

Another child, the 3-year-old Muharrem Taş, died while waiting for help to arrive at his family’s home. The family was unable to bring the sick boy to a hospital themselves due to the roads being closed by heavy snow. But no help came and the father carried his dead son in a sack on his back and walked 16 kilometers to a village. The boy was later brought to an autopsy and was afterwards buried.

ANF writes that the family has “filed a criminal complaint against the officials of the general directorate for highways, police station and health officers due to their negligence that has caused Muharrem’s death.
