Kurds continue to protest in Syria – Footage

by

Kurds staged protests in the four districts of Al-Hasakah district today, alongside other ethnic minorities calling for the toppling of Bashar al-Assad. The Syrian Baath regime is responsible for the killing of more than 10,000 protesters, including hundreds of children, injuring thousands of others. In a recent report by Amnesty International, a detailed account of rape, sexual abuse and torture of detainees in Syria has been revealed.

Kurdish people in Syria have faced discriminatory laws, and unfair treatment for decades. In the past they were denied the right to register their children with Kurdish names, to have citizenship and during the ‘Arabization’ period Kurdish farmers were unable to own property in 1995. Kurdish and Arab Syrians are calling for a democratic state with constitutionally protected rights for everyone.
