30 Kurdish students arrested in association with KCK

by

Thirty Kurdish students have been arrested in association with being a member of an illegal organisation and organising activities on behalf of an illegal organisation. The students are not part of any organisation, but in the past year hundreds of Kurdish students and activists have been arrested in association with Koma Civakên Kurdistan (Union of Communities in Kurdistan).

They have been associated with KCK on grounds of holding commemorations for Kurds killed by Turkish police, among those killed include Şerzan Kurt and Aydın Erdem. Singing in Kurdish and Kurdish folk dancing has amounted to suspicious activities in this case. These absurd allegations and wide-scale arrests are a means of scaring Kurdish activists and campaigners.

The first hearing will take place on the 7th of February in the 16th High Criminal Court.
