Iranian shelling kills civilians in Kurdistan

In the fight between Iran and Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) has killed two villagers two days ago; has killed tens of villagers in the last few months; and has forced more than 800 Iraqi Kurds to flee their homes due to the constant shelling of their villages.

US Embassy Spokesman in Baghdad voiced concern:

“We have seen a number of contradictory reports and we continue to watch the situation. Iraq is a sovereign country and we expect its neighbors including Iran to respect its sovereignty and integrity.”

Upon force from protesters in Erbil and from Kurds in diaspora, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has deployed around 12,000 Peshmerga, or the Kurdish military forces, along the border. A high-ranking Peshmerga, Salah Dilmani, said “We will confront any forces that may attempt to cross the borders of Kurdistan”.
