Sources from Iran have reported that Kurdish political prisoner, Ahmad Mohammadi was killed after having suffered severe torture while in prison. Iranian prison guards allegedly tortured Mohammadi in order to try to get information from the young man. Mohammadi was accused by Iranian officials for helping an “illegal organization”.

Ahmad Mohammadi is the second Kurdish prisoner to be killed in prison in just a week. Last week, Amir Abdullanejad was also killed after allegedly experiencing severe torture at the hands of Iranian guards.

Many political prisoners in Iran are currently suffering similar torture treatments. Furthermore, at least 13 Kurdish prisoners are facing the death penalty for their political activities.

Earlier this month,  unconfirmed sources reported that Ehsan Fatahian, another Kurdish political prisoner, was being prepared for execution. The 23-year-old was accused of being “an enemy of God” by the Islamic regime. According to human rights activists and international human rights organizations, such as the Human Rights Watch, many in Iran face  imminent execution after short show-trials for their political activities.
