7 children injured by mine blast in East Kurdistan

7 children were injured when a mine detonated in the hands of one of the children. They had found the mine in a former military outpost in a village in the northwestern city of Marivan, Kurdistan province (East Kurdistan/Iran), Kurdpress reports. A government official later claimed that the area had earlier been cleared of mines.

The children have been hospitalised. Two children are in need of eye surgery and another child has suffered injury to his leg, as can be seen here.

A parliament deputy from Marivan is demanding that the interior and defense ministry are held responsible for the mine blast.
