17-year-old A.Ç. was left in a solitary confinement for two weeks in the Urfa Prison according to BDP Co-chair and lawyer Meral Danış Beştaş. She visited the prison with a special delegation that were set out to investigate the condition of prisoners, and interview them. They were not allowed to see the prisoners, and A.C was not interviewed. However, the delegation highlighted several issues.

Meral Danış Beştaş has said the prisoners were cramped into small wards, and that the condition of female prisoners were poorly. They were not allowed family visits, and hot water was only available once a month. Women prisoners are subject to regular room searches by male officers, and were given little privacy subsequently.
