21-year old Kurdish student killed by Turkish police
Thousands of people turned up to a meeting in Amed, with BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, BDP deputies and Sur Mayor Abdullah Demirbaş, as well as civil society organisations. Security forces in Amed used tear-gas and live ammunition to disperse an open-air meeting between Kurdish activists. Murat Elibol was shot in the back, and died later in hospital.
His autopsy results reveal that he was killed from a bullet. The 21-year old was a student at Van Yuzuncu Yila University and a survivor of the Wan quake. He was in a meeting where Kurdish people reasserted their presence through a campaign which declares “I am here” and “We are all KCK”.
The meeting was held in protest against the mass-arrests of Kurdish politicians and activists who were associated with KCK. Thousands of Kurdish people gathered as the footage below shows;
His funeral will be held tomorrow in the town of Çınar in Amed.
