Tens of thousands across Syria took to the streets today, protests have been on-going for the past 10 months. Among them, thousands of Kurdish people who were singing the national anthem, clapping and calling for President Bashar al-Assad to step down. Men, women and children are visible from the short video;

Earlier today, 19 Syrians were brutally killed by security forces while protesting. Navi Pillay, the UN human rights commissioner said in a news conference on Thursday, “We are placing the figure at 4,000, but really the reliable information coming to us is that it is much more than that,” about the death toll for the past 10 months.

Kurdish people have been subject to systematic discrimination in Syria, and have never enjoyed equal status before the law. President Bashar al-Assad granted Kurdish people the right to citizenship earlier this year while protests were on-going for the sake of gaining more support, despite this Kurdish people have protested in defiance of a regime that has failed to uphold Human Rights for decades.
