Kurdish political prisoner Mr. Farhad Tarom has reportedly become the latest executed prisoner in Iran according to a number of independent sources inside Iran. According to the outlawed Kurdish News Agency, Mr. Farhad Tarom had been residing in Iraqi Kurdistan between 2005 to 2008 before returning to Iran. Upon his return, Mr. Tarom was arrested by Iranian authorities and was transferred to a detention center in Urmiye where he was to be held indefinitely.

Mr. Tarom’s execution comes just less than two weeks after another Kurdish prisoner, Mr. Hossein Khezri, was reportedly executed for his political activities. Last year, Iranian authorities executed political prisoners Mr. Farzad Kamangar, Ms. Shirin Alam Hooli, Mr. Ali Heydarian, and Mr. Farhad Vakili, despite an international campaign protesting the sentences. Earlier that year, Iranian authorities executed another Kurdish political prisoner Mr. Fasih Yasamani, just months after they executed another Kurdish political prisoner, Mr. Ehsan Fattahian.
