Iran: Mourners Arrested on the Second Anniversary of Ibrahim Loft-Allahi’s Death

Human Rights Activists News Agency reported that during yesterday’s ceremony in Sanandaj to commemorate the second anniversary of the death of Kurdish student activist Ibrahim Loft-Allahi in the Iranian regime’s custody, at least ten people were arrested.

The ceremony, held in Behesht-e Mohammadi cemetery in Sanandaj drew students from Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Orumieh, and Marivan, as well as residents of Sanandaj and family member of Loft-Allahi. According to the report, security forces surrounded the cemetery an hour before the beginning of the ceremony to prevent a large crowd from forming. As the video below shows, they clearly failed to do so. Plain-clothed agents filmed the ceremony and arrested at least 10 of the attendants of the ceremony, including Mokhtar Zarei (Member of central board of United Kurdish Front), Mehdi Doagoo, Loghman Ahmadi, Khalil Shahbazi, Seevan Adaak, Dara Hosseini (secretary and members of Kurdish Democratic Union), Azad Lotfuri, and Omid Sheikhi.

Ibrahim Loft-Allahi was a law student at the Payam-e Nour University in Sanandaj. He was arrested by security forces on January 8, 2008. His body was buried by the regime a week later.
