Kurdish Student Tortured in Evin Prison

An Iranian human rights activist, Freedom Messenger, reported today that two families of Kurdish students were able to meet with their detained relatives on December 20, 2009.

At least seven Kurdish students were arrested on December 16th while protesting the execution of Ehsan Fattahian in Tehran University. They have been kept in ward 209 of Evin Prison without access to lawyers and there is no court date set for them. The family of Sarveh Veisi, a 22-year-old student from alZahara University in Tehran reported that she is in high spirits, but that there are visible signs of torture on her face and body. The family of Esma’il Ghaderi was also able to meet with him in Evin Prison.
