No information available on arrested cultural activist
It has been over 20 days since the detention of Mehdi Hamidi, an activist on cultural and literary issues in Kermanshah province. The reason for his detention and his whereabouts are still unclear. Follow-ups by family members to gain access in person or through a telephone call have been unsuccessful.
It has been speculated that Mr. Hamidi is among a group of young activists working on the issues of Kurdish literature and culture in Kermanshah and that, considering his cultural activities, his arrest and long-term detention are a source of worry.
