A Kurdish political activist was sentenced to a year and half imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court for the crime of unlawful crossing of the Iranian boarder.

Last week, Judge Babai of the first unit of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, announced that Mr. Varya Iskandari was found guilty of unlawful crossing of the Iranian boarder and would be sentenced accordingly.

On Saturday, the 21st of Day (January 10th), the ruling was announced to Iskandari’s family and they were informed that they would be able to hire an attorney for him in hopes that the eighteen month sentence may be commuted. It must be noted that the court date for Mr. Deeyako Ghobadi, who was arrested along with Mr. Iskandari, has not yet been determined.
