Ministry of Intelligence refuses treatment request for Kaboudvand

The Ministry of Intelligence and the security deputy of the Revolutionary Prosecutor’s office rejected a request by Mohammad-Sedigh Kaboodvand to seek medical treatment outside of the prison system. The request was supposed to be reviewed and approved by the prison judicial authorities last Monday.

According to information received from Evin Prison, on Monday, December 29, a session was held inside the prison to assess the condition of those imprisoned by the Revolutionary Court system. Representatives from the court system were present in the session and, in spite of promises made earlier, Mr. Kaboodvand’s request for medical treatment outside of the prison was denied. The Revolutionary Court representatives confirmed that Mr. Kaboodvand’s request was jointly rejected by the Ministry of Intelligence and the security deputy of the revolutionary prosecutor office, and it did not allow treatment outside of the prison.

Readers are reminded that Mr. Kaboodvand is a well known human rights activist and he experienced a heart attack for the second time on Wednesday, December 17. He is also suffering from difficulties associated with the functioning of his kidneys, infection in his lungs and a prostate condition.
